_______
On Friday June 15th , Room40 & Silencer presents a night of cosmic missives from the underground, with the debut Sydney performance by Bee Mask (USA)

Bee Mask is USA-based musician Chris Madak. Over the past couple of years he has emerged from the American DIY underground alongside synth-revivalists such as Emeralds and Motion Sickness of Time Travel via an esoteric collection of cassette and LP editions, each of which offers a profound and personal sonic world: a world littered with pulsing waves, control voltage emissions and haunting melodic phrases that echo in the mind like forgotten dreams. Developing a range of hand-made electronic devices, Bee Mask has been able to create an otherworldly sound that is entirely his own. It’s an audio vision of a possible future, or a parallel universe, in which the very nature of sound, space and time is bent, re-arranged and re-composed with utterly absorbing results.

“Bee Mask produces medium specific, high-calibre synthesised compositions with mind-altering intent, beyond the scope of what one might “check out to while having their tarot cards read.
Altered Zones

Bee Mask is joined for this show by a slew of amazing local artists:
—————-
Pimmon:
The sound of pimmon? Buzzes and blips, distorted rumbles, ghosts of melody, radar pulses, glitched ambience all are melted into an unpredictable slab of sound that fluctuates on and off. Minimal and maximised sounds weave without sounding unfocused. Microscopic worlds that are zoom-lensed into grainy focus, alien and yet vaguely familiar, an emotive call from the distance.

“As [pimmon] unleashed the whole sonic power contained in his laptop, it wasn’t the whole venue that disappeared, but my whole sense of self.” – Fluid Radio
—————-
Stitched Vision (Newcastle):
“It is obvious now, over the course of three cassettes, that Stitched Vision is constantly refining his skills, constantly looking for a personal, immediately recognizable style which will be purely his own. Jason Campbell might be a pearl diver, looking for the one special pearl under the stormy sea of vintage drones.” – Weed Temple
—————-
Secret Birds:
“It’s this krauty, dubby, laser dappled, psychedelic gem that hits the sweet spot everytime…There’s no reason why Peace Forest shouldn’t have held joint top spot on many 2011 year end lists with 936 from Peaking Lights – it’s that good. Think “posse of leaf-cutter ants floating down stream in a psychedelic kayakâ€? & you’re almost there.” – Foxy Digitalis
