“On The Edge of Silence #1″
The performance of an acoustmatic work will be simultaneously diffused into the performance space and broadcast locally at the event using a mini transmitter on the FM band frequency 107.1MHz. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own radio receivers to the event. The performance space will be deconstructed as the performer and audience members are instructed and allowed to freely wander around the performance space with radio receivers tuned to the performance, therefore complicating the listening experience with a dynamic multi directional sound source. In addition to this, the performer and audience members with radio receivers will also be able to explore the boundaries of the local broadcast beyond the walls of the performance space. The idea is that audience members may chose to listen to the work in the performance space primarily over the PA system or may chose to explore the perimeter of the electromagnetic field of the broadcast outside the venue.
