the NOW now series #20 @ Maroubra bunkers

 Maroubra Bunkers. starts 3pm. free!

Since the 2nd World War the army bunkers at Maroubra/Malabar Headlands have been abandoned and left largely for the graffiti artists and casual walkers. The complex of concrete rooms, underground tunnels and stairways has an eerie and mysterious quality. Silence and darkness takes the place of what would have been a well-occupied defence base during the war. The site will no doubt form an exciting setting for the Splinter Orchestra. The group will spread themselves throughout the building and explore its reverberant qualities. Listener is encouraged to explore the music as well the fascinating surroundings at their own leisure.
